A sneak peak at our working studio space.
Nestled on the south end of the island of Kaua'i sits our studio space where we meticulously craft the pieces we call Mira. The moment you step inside our studio space, you are greeted with high ceilings and an abundance of natural light pouring in through the massive windows. The windows are covered only with a metal lattice grate allowing the humid outside air to flow in freely. It’s a warm and inviting atmosphere with a heavy wooden workbench perfect for pounding on and blank canvases of matte white walls.
As you walk around the warehouse outside of our studio, you will see more spaces partitioned off where other talented artisans are hard at work. This place is one where creativity flourishes on a variety of levels and is expressed without limitations. Our studio sits next to an incredible painter, Carol Bennett, across from a skilled seamstress, Shannon Hiramoto of Machine Machine, and her dad, Charlie Hiramoto, printmaker of Goofy Foot Press. There is also a private woodworking studio in the building so you can imagine how ideas and inspiration are abundant and easily feed off one another.
Within our workspace at Mira Kaua’i, we pound and shape each piece of gold by hand. The sound of metal meeting metal fills the air, adding to the authentic and artisanal feel of our studio. Each piece is carefully crafted with great attention to detail. The serene and natural beauty of Kaua'i inspires us to create pieces that reflect the beauty of this place we get to call home. The simple, yet elegant designs are inspired by the lush surroundings of the island, from the gentle rustling of palm fronds to the glistening waters of the ocean. Each piece in our collection evokes a sense of tranquility and harmony, mirroring the peaceful atmosphere of Kaua'i. The luxurious gold tones pay homage to the island's rich landscapes, while the hammered texture adds a touch of raw, organic beauty. So the next time you wear Mira, you will know that yours was crafted with attention to detail and plenty of aloha within our studio space on the island of Kaua'i.
